Advent scenes
In the season of hope we wait in joyful expectation for the coming of Our Lord. Unlike the secular world, no Christmas decorations are yet in sight. Brisk autumn air greets a walker in the late afternoon; the trees are barren, as if crying out to the heavens, Come, Emmanuel, come! Bring us new life again! The Advent calendar, counting down the days until Christmas, has been hung up in our community room, and the Advent wreath graces our choir. Our annual novena to Our Lady under her title of the Immaculate Conception has begun. The meals are simpler; all the more to enjoy the “goodies” people so generously gift us with, once Christmas has come.
During this season of hope, know that you are in our prayers. Even thought the days may be physically dark, and many difficulties spiritually darken the Church and the world, we trust that the light of Christ can and will break through if we persevere in faithful, watchful love.
Merry Christmas and a blessed, healthy New Year!
